Deciding to buy shares in the capital market is a decision that should not be done carelessly. Investors and shareholders need to consider various factors to determine whether a stock is worth buying. One important aspect that needs to be analyzed is the movement of stock prices. The stock market is a complex system, and various factors can influence the movement of stock prices. In this study, we will examine the effect of financial ratios, namely net profit margin (NPM), Return on Equity (ROE), PRICE BOOK VALUE (PBV), and EARNINGS PER SHARE (EPS) on the stock prices of banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2009-2011 period.

Methodology and Data Analysis

This study selected 23 banking companies out of 34 registered companies as research samples. The research data were analyzed using several statistical tests, namely normality tests, multicollinearity tests, heteroscedasticity tests, autocorrelation tests, multiple linear regression tests, and hypothesis tests. The results of these tests were used to determine the relationship between the financial ratios and stock prices.

The results of this study showed that NPM, ROE, PBV, and EPS partially had a significant influence on the share price of banking companies on the IDX.
