Research Methodology

This study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive methods to explore and explain the social phenomena that occur in the recovery process of drug addicts. The research subjects consisted of four addiction counselors with more than three years of experience and two residents who had completed all stages of counseling. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations, allowing researchers to obtain comprehensive information about communication practices carried out by counselors.

The results of the study showed that the communication strategy used by all addiction counselors was effective and smooth. This effectiveness was strongly influenced by the counselor's ability to recognize and build good relationships with residents. An important factor in this communication was the similarity of experience, where all counselors had a background of addiction that made it easier for them to build a sense of mutual understanding with residents.
