Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) is an indicator that measures the risk of atherosclerosis. AIP is calculated by the logarithmic formula from the ratio of plasma triglyceride concentrations to the concentration of cholesterol high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) plasma. Previous studies have shown that high AIP when entering hospitals is associated with more severe neurological damage in acute ischemic stroke patients. This indicates that AIP can be an important marker to predict the severity of stroke and the risk of complications.
