In today's digital age, the number of available scientific documents such as journals and articles is increasing exponentially. This has made the search and presentation of journals more challenging than ever. To overcome this problem, a method is needed that is able to classify journals automatically according to the relevant category. One solution that can be applied is to use the classification technique. In this study, the Rocchio algorithm was chosen as the main method for classifying journals.

It helps researchers, academics, and students to find journals in accordance with their interests and research needs more quickly and efficiently. With the increasing number of available publications, the need for an efficient journal classification system has become more pressing than ever.

The Rocchio Algorithm: A Popular Technique in Text Classification

The Rocchio algorithm is one of the techniques in the learning machine that is popularly used for text classification. This method works by identifying the center of each category based on the features contained in the document. By calculating the average representation of each category, this algorithm can efficiently classify journals based on similarities to the center of that category.

The data used in this study were taken from Google Scholar and included four main categories, namely: Computer Vision & Pattern Recognition, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining & Analysis, and Computer System. The research methodology includes sampling of 160 journals as training data and 48 journals for test data. The journals were selected based on their relevance to the four main categories.

Results and Discussion

After going through the testing process, the results showed that the web-based journal classification system developed was able to reach an accuracy level of up to 93%. This achievement is an indicator that the system developed has great potential to be implemented in the academic and research world. The success of this classification system not only depends on the algorithm used, but also on the quality and relevance of the processed data.
