Reveals the potential of hazelnut seeds in Perbesi Village: Analysis of Efficiency and Trading Strategy

Perbesi Village, Tigabinanga District, Karo Regency, has great potential in the cultivation of hazelnut seeds (Aleurites moluccana (L.) Willd.). This study aims to analyze the efficiency of the Candlenut seed trading system in the village, as well as formulating an effective trade strategy to improve the welfare of farmers. The research involved 41 farmers chosen by the Slovin method and 13 traders chosen by the Snowball Sampling method. Data were analyzed using the price spread, share margin, efficiency, and SWOT analysis methods.

The results showed that there were 3 channels of hazelnut seed trading in Perbesi Village. Each channel has a difference in terms of price spread, share margin, and profit share received by each trade institution. Candlenut seed trading system in Perbesi Village in channels 1, 2, and 3 is classified as efficient, with the highest efficiency value found in the 2nd trade channel. This study provides valuable insights into the efficiency of the Candlenut seed trading system in Perbesi Village and highlights the potential for improvement.
