Since 2008, the Constitutional Court (MK) has been designated as an institution that has the authority to resolve regional head election disputes until the formation of the Special Justice Agency stipulated in Law No. 8 of 2015.

The study aims to understand the authority of the Constitutional Court in completing disputes of votes in the simultaneous regional head election in Medan in 2015.

The decision resulting from the Constitutional Court has reflected the principle of justice, providing legal certainty for all parties involved. This is in line with the spirit to maintain the sovereignty of the people mandated by the law. The Constitutional Court must continue to uphold the principles of justice and ensure that the implementation of regional head elections in the future can run better and have integrity.

Limitations of the Study

This study has several limitations. Firstly, the study only focuses on the 2015 Medan City Head Elections, and does not cover other regional head elections in Indonesia. Secondly, the study only analyzes the legal aspect of the election dispute, and does not consider the political and social implications of the dispute. Finally, the study only uses secondary data, and does not collect primary data through surveys or interviews.
