Introduction

Driving activities are complex activities that involve various cognitive processes, closely related to the ability and limits of the human brain and sensory systems in processing information. Participants were asked to drive a simulator with four different scenarios: without music, listening to music with a slow tempo (70 BPM), moderate tempo (87 BPM), and fast tempo (138 BPM). The driving simulator was designed to mimic real-world driving conditions, with various road scenarios and traffic patterns. The participants' brain activity was recorded using EEG, which measures the electrical activity of the brain.

Results

The results of the study showed that there was no significant influence from the tempo of music on the rider's performance in terms of the level of attention and the number of violations that occurred while driving. However, based on the Wilcoxon signed-rank test conducted, a difference was found in the average theta wave before and after driving while listening to music with a moderate tempo (87 BPM). This finding shows that music with moderate tempo can increase theta wave activity, which is associated with emotional emphasis, thus affecting the driver's response to changes in vehicle speed.
