Introduction

Effective financial management is crucial for the success of any organization, including regional work units. In the context of North Tapanuli Regency Government, the implementation of Regional Management Information Systems (SIMDA) has been a key factor in improving financial management performance. However, the role of competencies, motivation, and organizational commitment in achieving this goal is still unclear. This study aims to investigate the effect of these factors on financial management performance in regional work units, with a focus on the implementation of SIMDA.

Background

The North Tapanuli Regency Government has been carrying out research to analyze the influence of competencies, motivation, and organizational commitment on financial management performance in regional work units. This study considers the implementation of SIMDA as a factor that plays a role in the relationship between these variables. The method used in this study is causal associative research, involving 48 regional work units and 150 respondents.

Methodology

Data collection was done by the census method through a questionnaire. Of the 150 questionnaires distributed, as many as 135 questionnaires were successfully returned. To analyze data, researchers used multiple linear regression and path analysis. The results obtained show that competence, motivation, and organizational commitment have a significant positive influence on the performance of financial management, both individually (partially) and simultaneously (simultaneously). This study supports the first proposed hypothesis.

Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that competencies, motivation, and organizational commitment significantly affect the financial management performance of the Regional Work Unit in the Government of North Tapanuli Regency. The implementation of SIMDA acts as a mediator in this relationship, confirms that the use of appropriate information technology can improve financial management performance. Therefore, it is important for local governments to continue to improve employee competence, motivate them, and strengthen organizational commitment so that financial management can be done more effectively.
