Introduction

In today's fast-paced digital age, computer operators play a crucial role in managing data archives and performing various tasks on computers. However, one of the main problems faced by these operators is the fatigue of the hand muscles, which occurs due to the limited number of workers and the amount of work that must be completed. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of massage in reducing hand muscle fatigue in computer operators at Puskom Unimed.

Puskom Unimed is one of the very important work units that functions in managing data archives. In this unit, there are 10 people who work as computer operators, who are tasked with inputting and scouting various data. The limited number of workers is not comparable to the amount of work that must be completed, leading to hand muscle fatigue. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of massage in reducing hand muscle fatigue in computer operators at Puskom Unimed.

Methodology

This study uses an experimental design by involving 10 people as a sample. Measurements are made using a tool called tapping tester to assess the level of hand muscle fatigue before and after work. The tapping tester is a simple and practical tool that measures the number of beats per minute (bpm) to assess hand muscle fatigue.

Results

The results of this study show that the average number of beats before working is 6.1 for the right hand muscles and 5.98 for the left hand muscles. After working for 4 hours, the number of beats increased to 7.86 for the right hand and decreased to 5.42 for the left hand. After working for 2 hours, beats for the right hand fell to 4.88 and the left hand to 4.22.

Analysis

From the analysis conducted, obtained the results of the T statistical test with a significance level of 5% (0.05) produces a probability value between 0,000 to 0.004. This value is much smaller than 5% (0.05), thus indicating a significant difference related to the reduction of hand muscle fatigue.

The results of this study provide some important insights. First, it shows that hand muscle fatigue is a real issue that needs attention, especially for those who work for a long time in front of the computer. Second, massage as a simple and practical intervention can be a solution to help reduce muscle fatigue.

For this reason, it is advisable to workers to routinely do massage as a way to overcome the fatigue of the hand muscles, especially after a long period of work. By applying these simple steps, it is expected to improve the welfare of computer operators and encourage their work productivity.
