The study was conducted by Dimas Tauhid (160304082/Agribusiness) under the guidance of Mr. Dr. Ir. Satia Negara Lubis, M. Ec. as chairman of the Supervising Commission and Emitter Mrs. Sp., M.Sc as a member of the Supervising Commission. The research focused on analyzing the factors that affect strategic food consumption in Medan Belawan and Marelan, as well as analyzing the state of the nutritional level of the community in the region.

Methodology

The methods used in this study include multiple linear regression analysis, descriptive analysis, and fishbone analysis. These methods were employed to identify the factors that significantly affect food consumption and nutrition levels in the region.

Results

The results of the study showed that several factors jointly had a significant effect on the consumption of staple food in Medan Belawan I, Belawan II, and Marelan. These factors include:

Partially, this study found that the amount of income per month and maternal education level had a significant influence on the consumption of staple food in the region. This shows that access to the source of income and the level of maternal education plays an important role in determining the pattern of food consumption in the family.

Interestingly, this research also shows that people in Medan Belawan 1, Belawan II, and Marelan have a higher average energy intake compared to the national ideal energy rate (2,150 kcal/cap/day).

This study shows that economic factors, education, and access to food sources have a significant influence on food consumption and the level of nutrition of the community in Medan Belawan 1, Belawan II, and Marelan. The right and directed strategy is needed to increase the consumption and nutrition of the people in the region, in order to achieve the goals of healthy and prosperous life.
