Morphometric Study and TOR Fish Growth (Tor spp.) Family Ciprinidae in the Wampu Das Langkat Regency

Introduction

The Wampu Watershed, located in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, is home to a diverse range of aquatic species, including the TOR fish (Tor spp.) from the Ciprinidae family. Research on the morphometrics and growth patterns of TOR fish in this region is crucial for understanding their adaptation to their environment and for conservation efforts. This study aims to explore the characteristics of morphometrics and meristic, growth, and diversity of TOR fish in the waters of Wampu.

Research Methodology

The research was conducted from July to September 2017 in the Wampu Watershed. The method used was descriptive post facto, where fishing was carried out using a backpack electrofishing unit with multiple-pass depletion operating techniques. The results of the analysis were used to identify the characteristics of morphometrics and meristic of the TOR fish.

Results

The analysis showed that the characteristics of the morphometric TOR fish can be grouped using the clustering method "Between Group Linkage" based on the distance of Euclidean, producing two groups namely Tor Tambroides and Tor Soro fish. The characteristics of the meristic of the two fish species were also analyzed.

Growth Pattern

The growth pattern of TOR fish in the Wampu Watershed was identified as a negative allometric, with a different level of diversity in each river. The Bahorok River had a diversity level of 0.5, while the river had a diversity level of 0.61.
