Introduction

This study aims to explore the nonverbal communication behavior of autistic children in the Extraordinary School of Islamic Education Park in Medan City, Indonesia. By examining the communication patterns of these children, we can gain a deeper understanding of their needs and develop more effective teaching strategies to support their learning.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurological disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior. Children with autism often struggle with verbal communication, relying heavily on nonverbal cues to express themselves. In the classroom, this can lead to misunderstandings and difficulties in achieving learning targets. This study employed an ethnographic approach with a qualitative methodology, involving observation and interview techniques.
